Delivering a Low Carbon Energy Centre for 1,500 Homes

28 August 2025

Last month, we completed the full offsite fit-out, FAT testing, and QA checks on a twin-module Low Carbon Energy Centre, designed to provide community district heating for 1,500 new-build homes within a major UK housing development.

This bespoke Energy Centre was designed, modularised, and fully fitted out offsite by Alternative Heat, incorporating mechanical, electrical, controls, security, and fire alarm systems to deliver a snag-free, high-quality, plug-and-play solution for our client.

Once delivered to site, the Energy Centre will connect to 1.2MW of external air source heat pumps (ASHPs) and 130,000L of thermal storage, all housed within a dedicated Energy Centre compound. This approach ensures speed, quality, and minimal disruption while supporting the UK’s drive toward low-carbon heating.
