Scope

2MW Biomass Energy Centre

Project Overview

Alternative Heat were appointed as principle contractor for this prestigious project and worked in conjunction with Fife Council representatives to design and install a new 2MW Biomass Energy Centre, with wood chip fuel store and associated fuel handling equipment.

The new Biomass Energy Centre was designed in modular plantroom sections, fully fabricated and delivered to site in 4No. seperate modules, which were linked together to form the new Energy Center. By designing the Energy Centre in modular units it meant the plantroom installation could get underway at the same time as the civils works commenced for the concrete base and associated wood chip storage unit.

When the civil works were completed the full Energy Centre was delivered and installed, ready for commissioning within 1 week. The Biomass Energy Centre was linked to a 10km district energy heating network which serves multiple schools and council buildings in Dunfermline.

Full Revit 3D plantroom layout drawings were provided to the client prior to commencement of fabricatoon works to ensure the best possible layout was achieved.
