Scope
2.1MW Gas Boiler & 260kWe Gas CHP skid mounted plantrooms
Project Overview
Alternative Heat were engaged to design, fabricate and install a split-level main Energy Centre and 2No. smaller basement plantrooms, to provide LTHW and BCWS via a DHN to a new 1,200 room student village and 9,000m² of teaching space at Leicester University.
Alternative Heat undertook full responsibility for design coordination of all services including integration with the site wide BIM model.
The split-level plantroom had LTHW provision served by 4No. 900kW gas boilers and combined heat and power provision via 1No. 200KW gas CHP, while BCWS provision was served via 2No. 10,500L portable water tanks and associated booster pump sets and water conditioning skids.
The 2No. smaller plantrooms each had LTHW provision served by 4No. 150kW gas boilers and combined heat and power provision via 1No. 32KW gas CHP, per plantroom.
To maximise the benefits of offsite prefabrication and to facilitate smooth onsite integration, Alternative Heat fully connected and FAT tested all modules and prefabricated pipe sections within our dedicated fabrication facility prior to dispatch, minimising requirement for onsite integration, commissioning or construction modifications.
