Prefabricated Electrical Distribution Modules

Project Overview

Alternative Heat were engaged to design, fabricate and deliver a prefabricated sitewide electrical distribution solution for a new build data centre campus in Dublin, to accommodate all external generator feed and internal electrical distribution requirements.

To optimise the benefits of prefabrication, Alternative Heat’s in-house design team conducted site wide modelling and subsequently were able to successfully standardise and optimise module types, fixing methods and material specification, applying factory construction methods to provide a streamlined DFMA solution.

For this project Alternative Heat prefabricated c.11Km of interconnecting, structural steel frames, all fully galvanised and including full fitout of containment, mechanical fixings and bonding. Utilising our offsite fabrication facilities enabled all fabrication to be completed within a build programme of just 14 weeks, whilst maintaining strict quality control, guaranteeing a high quality, standardised end product.

This DFMA approach provided a defect free end product which was offloaded, positioned and installed on site at a rate of 2 modules per hour, whilst only requiring 2 No. operatives to complete. This coupled with just-in-time full load deliveries, tailored to match on-site programme of works, greatly reduced on-site labour and storage requirements.
