First Aider

Tell me about a typical week?

My week would begin by attending a progression meeting each morning with the project teams to discuss their jobs and address any faults or issues we have during the assembly process. We also review future projects, materials and programmes to help ease the workload once this project moves onto the floor.

I currently mentor a placement student in mechanical, electrical and construction that will help him acquire skills and knowledge for future roles.

What is the best thing about your job?

Variety, there is a great variety of work, no one job is ever the same.  I work closely with the assembly team who show hard work and dedication.

Why should anyone consider a career with Alternative Heat?

Alternative Heat is an enjoyable company to work for, all team members work well together and have a very positive ethos in helping others progress through the company.

Career Highlight?

I personally have progressed through the company from Pipe Installer, Plumber to Contracts Manager to Assembly Manager.

I was recently given the opportunity to be a Mentor for new placement students starting with the company.

We work with the Colleges, Universities, and training centres to train future employees. We provide a programme that shadows what they our learning in class, mixing it with practical, theory from Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Fabrication and Assembly on the floor to Design and BIM within the Head Office.

I feel good, helping to assist the students through their 4 years serving time with us. I like to remember we were all there once in our careers!
