Job Description

The opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in the UK’s Building Services providers. We design, develop and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Ireland.

Alternative Heat specialises in the design, supply and installation of a wide range of Pre-Fabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Ireland. We also offer turnkey design, build & operate solutions for commercial energy centers and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public body’s throughout Ireland & UK.

Due to continued growth we are looking to integrate a Commercial Bid Manager to assist in the evaluation, preparation, submission and negotiation of future proposals and public tender bids.

Job Summary

The Bid Manager will assemble a bid team with the relevant service / product / business knowledge required to prepare a winning bid, whilst taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process. The Bid Manager is typically responsible for managing an opportunity from qualification through to contract award, including value proposition / strategy development, solution development, commercial considerations, partner identification, and risk management. Responsibilities include the introduction and implementation of all necessary bid procedures, governance, and processes. This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. It will require strong people management and commercial skills.

Core Responsibilities

Integrate with sales and commercial team to assist in evaluating and preparation of proposals for new opportunities.
• Lead storyboard sessions with commercial, design and sales team members and key stakeholders for current and future opportunities.
• Attend site meetings for potential/new projects to help develop and streamline proposal in line with client’s requirements.
• Source public procurement sites to download and apply for suitable tender opportunities.
• Liaise with senior team to review and agree on how to format returns and setout timeline and appointed person for each task.
• Identify and re-work existing pre-written content where relevant
• Review and where necessary format and edit proposed responses from a variety of stakeholders, including, design, marketing & commercial teams to ensure responses are comprehensive and prepared in line with clients requirements.
• Preparing & submitting PQQs
• Preparing and submitting tender returns via procurement portals
• Streamlining and formatting procurement data
• Integrate with project managers to co-ordinate handover of new projects from Pre-construction stage and assist them as required throughout delivery period.

Ideally has a background in commercial M&E and experience of bid campaign management from opportunity identification through to project delivery, and will provide valuable input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions, and solution design.
Must be comfortable working at CEO / Director Level (internal and external customers). Will be fully conversant with the competitive marketplace. Sound commercial understanding, P&L and risk management skills. Have the ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities. Solid understanding and implementation of internal governance procedures.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 5 years office-based experience within the Construction / Commercial M&E sectors
  • Previous experience in preparing and submitting tender bids within the construction sector.
  • Computer literate with attention to detail and presentation
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Word
  • Strong written English language skills
  • Organised and structured approach to work with an ability to manage workloads
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to Communicate and influence at a senior level

Desirable Criteria:

  • Good understanding of commercial M&E systems
