Successful digital transformation isn’t just a technology challenge – it’s a people challenge

After implementing digital collaboration across live construction projects, one thing has become clear: the technology is often the easiest part. The real challenge is changing how teams communicate, raise issues and work together.

Three lessons we’ve learned:

• Empower champions within project teams – Digital tools succeed when they’re driven by people embedded in the day-to-day work, not just senior sponsors setting direction from above.
• Involve site teams from the outset – Bringing site teams into the process early, not just at the training stage, means the tools are shaped by the people who’ll actually use them.
• Focus on the metrics that make the biggest impact – Rather than trying to track everything, identifying a small number of metrics that genuinely matter keeps teams focused on outcomes rather than data for its own sake.
