Scope

Design and installation of rooftop solar PV systems across two live leisure centres, with low-carbon upgrades at Abbey Stadium.

Project Overview

In early 2025, Alternative Heat Limited delivered rooftop solar PV installations at Abbey Stadium, Redditch, and Bromsgrove Sports & Leisure Centre, supporting local authority sustainability objectives by reducing carbon emissions and on-site electricity demand.

Alongside the solar PV works, Abbey Stadium also benefited from targeted low-carbon heating and domestic hot water upgrades, further improving energy efficiency and system resilience at the site.

All works were completed within a live operational environment, with phased delivery used to minimise disruption to building users.

Scope of Works

Solar PV – Both Sites

  • Design and installation of rooftop solar PV systems

  • Total installed capacity of approximately 108 kWp

  • Abbey Stadium: 30.24 kWp flat roof system

  • Bromsgrove Sports & Leisure Centre: 78.32 kWp system across two buildings

  • Roof-specific mounting solutions and structural load considerations

  • Full testing, commissioning and handover

Low-Carbon Heating & DHW – Abbey Stadium Only

    • Installation of 2No. Panasonic T-CAP M-Series 16 kW air source heat pumps (roof mounted)

    • Replacement of existing calorifier with 2No. Copper Industries EcoPod 500 L vessels

    • Each EcoPod complete with 2No. 6 kW immersion heaters

    • Maximum operating temperature 95°C and operating pressure 3 bar

    • Integration with existing building services and controls
