8No. Oxygen Generator Plantrooms

Project Overview

Alternative Heat were approached and engaged early in the COVID-19 pandemic response to design, construct and deliver 8No. Oxygen generator plantrooms for rapid deployment across the NHS hospital estate in Northern Ireland.

Each unit has full capability to provide low-pressure direct oxygen supply into pre-existing hospital medical gas systems and to refill high-pressure medical gas cannisters simultaneously. It was decided early in project planning, that to deliver in the timescales required, all plantrooms would be constructed in modified and specially adapted 40ft high cube shipping containers, which provided an ‘off the shelf’ structural solution.

Alternative Heat worked within the constraints of container dimensions to develop a layout which accommodated all required plant and ancillary equipment, whilst allowing safe access for operation and maintenance.

Plantroom fitout of all equipment and controls was completed under factory conditions within Alternative Heat’s fabrication facility, with all services fully commissioned, FAT tested and purity certified prior to dispatch to site.
