Decarbonising Corby Cube and Community Facilities

25 November 2025

The decarbonisation programme across the Corby Cube, Corby International Pool, and Desborough Leisure Centre is set to remove around 690 tonnes of carbon every year — a 3% reduction in the council’s operational carbon footprint. A major step toward creating more energy-efficient public buildings for the community.

To deliver these results, Alternative Heat is carrying out

  •  Replacement of fossil fuel boilers with air source heat pumps (ASHPs)
  •  Solar PV installations
  •  Site-wide lighting upgrades
  •  Electrical switchgear expansions
  •  Building Management System integration
  •  Radiator upgrades
  •  All associated construction works

The Corby Cube itself is a central public hub — with a council chamber, register office, public library, and two theatres — and these upgrades will significantly modernise how the building operates.

Alternative Heat is proud to be delivering the practical, engineering-led solutions that will drive long-term carbon reduction and support North Northamptonshire’s sustainability ambitions.
