Project Overview
Alternative Heat secured the contract to deliver a replacement LTHW plantroom at Pingle Academy, Derbyshire. This comprehensive project included the design, fabrication and installation of a new prefabricated plantroom, the safe removal of the pre-existing coal fired boiler room and all associated on-site civils.
Full in-house control over design, prefabrication and civils works enabled a short construction programme to be maintained, with all works undertaken and completed within an 8-week period, minimising disruption and H&S concerns on this live school site.
The plantroom comprised of 2No. 3 x 9m modules to include 4No. 290kW gas boilers, BMS controls, a 1,200kW PHE and new district pump sets, connecting to the school distribution system via new prefabricated district pipework.
On-site works included the safe decommissioning and environmental disposal of the pre-existing plantroom, including asbestos removal. Civils works to construct a suitable plantroom base, hard landscaping and installation of new security fencing around the compound.
