System Overview

Beech House is a tower block of flats consisting of 10 floors with 90 Flats. Alternative Heat were appointed to supply and install a new gas fired modular system with associated pumps and a new district network to serve the twin plate heat interface units serving both DHW and LTHW to each individual flat.

Firstly, we stripped and disposed of the redundant CHP unit, the space was utilised in the plantroom to install the new gas boiler and associated plant. Our Design consists of 4No. 200kW gas boilers in a modular unit c/w auxilliary pumps serving heat to a low loss header and onto the district network. The modular unit is complete with automated BMS controls with digital front screen.

The new district F&R network was installed in the basement area with 7No. riser shafts (boxed in using 1 hour rated supalux fire board to comply with the latest BS in Fire Protection) installed throughout the building. We left a fully operational primary circuit providing heat and hot water to all faults and left it ready for the secondary side to be installed. The projected timescale to leave a fully operational and commissioned system was 16 weeks and all timeframes were met.

We then installed a HIU, Heat Meter and Pre-payment Meter into the property along with new domestic pipework, radiators and controls as necessary. Our TLO managed this process with information packs, pre-condition surveys and demonstration post installation.
