Alternative Heat specialises in the design, supply and installation of a wide range of Off-site Prefabricated solutions for the commercial M&E sectors throughout Ireland and UK. Role

Due to continued growth we wish to integrate a Fabrication Manager to support our current fabrication and painting facilities, in our offsite fabrication facility. This post is a permanent position and offers amazing opportunities for any successful candidate who wishes to gain experience within a progressive and dynamic company. The role will be based in our Fabrication facility in Banbridge with visits to Scarva Fabrication facilities ensuring works and procedures are being carried out in a timely manner.

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who can manage, develop, delegate work accordingly and support Project Managers on progress and advancements. As part of the role as Fabrication Manager will be to manage weekly production, forecast production, monitoring of queries, non-conformances and implement operational procedures. The role will also require the managing of raw materials, machine maintenance and the development of the fabrication facilities in Banbridge with advice and guidance on design requirements and specification.

Core responsibilities of role:

  • Managing the fabrication department to ensure all fabrication projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Create work schedules to align with program to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Produce fabrication forecasts, to highlight future fabrication capabilities.
  • Liaise with the project management teams in weekly project meetings to discuss progress and programs.
  • Management of raw materials and stock levels
  • Review fabrication drawings prior to entering the production line for correct measurements and specification.
  • Develop and review new fabrication/welding processes and equipment.
  • Ensure company welding procedures are adhered to and developed.
  • Ensure company painting standards are adhered to and developed.
  • Liaise regularly with line managers in relation to labour resources, training, machinery and any non-conformances.
  • Supporting weekly progress reports and target advancements on individual project.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by management

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience working as a steel fabrication manager.
  • Hold fabrication/welding certification (i.e. HNC Fabrication & Welding, City & Guild Fabrication & Welding Tech Parts I, II, III, etc..)
  • Previous experience or familiarity with pipe/structural welding procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including the ability to operate Microsoft Office & Excel.
  • Organise a structured approach to your work.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a varied portfolio of work.
  • Full Driving License.
  • Good attendance and timekeeping record.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to motivate colleagues, whilst maintaining a high level of productivity

Desired Criteria:

  • Previous experience on operating any of the following machines (CNC Plasma Plate Cutter, Press Brake, CNC Pipe Bending Machine, Orbital Pipe Welder)
  • Previous experience or familiarity with spray painting procedures
  • Previous experience in using DWG/Auto Cad software

Fabrication Facility- Banbridge

Hours:

07:30-17:00, Mon – Thu; 07:30-16:00, Fri

Salary:

Competitive depending on experience
