Alternative Heat has commenced works with Lancaster City Council as part of a major investment programme to modernise and enhance key buildings across the Council’s estate, supporting its ambition to achieve net zero carbon emissions from its own operations by 2030.

Our works will deliver a significant low-carbon infrastructure upgrade, replacing ageing gas heating systems with high-efficiency heat pump technology and modernised plantroom infrastructure designed to improve long-term energy performance, resilience and operational efficiency.

The programme includes works at Williamson Park, including the Butterfly House and the iconic Ashton Memorial, both recognised listed heritage buildings, where low-carbon heating upgrades will be delivered with careful consideration to protect the character and integrity of these historic structures.

With activity now underway on site, the team have begun early-stage construction works following the completion of detailed design development. This marks the first step in delivering a coordinated and technically robust solution as the project progresses through its next phase.

We look forward to working closely with Lancaster City Council and project partners as this important decarbonisation programme progresses.
