Terra HGL - Ground Source Heat Pumps 5 to 45kw

The IDM HGL heat pump is the flagship product for IDM. Heat pumps have long been associated with issues over cost effective hot water production. With this in mind the IDM research facility designed the HGL (Hot Gas Loading) heat pump which is a development of the Terra S/W model.

The HGL heat pump has a unique patented feature in that it supplies two flow outputs, one for hot water production and one for the underfloor heating system. This system utilises the superheat from the compressor by transfering it through a second heat exchanger providing a second flow temperature of up to 60ºC.

This patented system means the HGL heat pump eleminates the requirement for large 6Kw immersion heaters.When incorporated with a Hygenik tank you have a full monovalent system with the full heating and hot water supplied by the heat pump.

In addition the Navigator control offers a comprehensive control system equivalent to a mini BMS. Weather compensation is standard and there are considerable monitoring safety and message functions to provide precise and efficient use of the heat pump.

The Navigator control enables an additional boiler to be automatically operated by way of an external switch. e.g. for larger properties a heat pump could heat the base load to an outside temperature of say 2ºC whereby the heat pump would fire an oil boiler or other heat source to boost the system.

This means the additional source is only fired as and when required and best utilises the heat pump, improving efficiency and reducing running costs.
